BRUNEIANS have been invited to participate in the "Asean Young Leaders Training Programme", to better understand Chinese culture and its history
The training programme will be held from July 6 to September 9 at China's Guangxi International Youth Exchange Institute, Guangxi Autonomous Region, and is organised by the All-China Youth Federation.The programme aims to further strengthen ties between China and Asean countries especially in introducing friendship and understanding among youths.
Within the two-month programme, the participants will be taught Chinese politics, economy, culture, science, technology and education.Participants will also have the opportunity to learn basic Chinese as a language, Chinese history, visits to various companies, government buildings, schools, community areas, some rural areas in Guangxi and Beijing.
The participants from all 10 Asean countries are required to introduce their home country's culture, customs, movement and activities of youth institutions as well as be knowledgeable on the development of their country's economy.
The organiser in China will pay all expenses for the programme, including return flight tickets, accommodation, study expenses and also provided an additional allowance of RMB600 ($116) per month.
Applications are open to staff or officers in the government, private sector, organisation or youth institutions and those who are unemployed.Applicants must bebetween 25 to 40 years; a citizen or permanent resident of Brunei; must have a good health record and possess a good command of the English language.Application forms are available at the Youth and Sports Department, at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports Building, in Jln Kebangsaan, and must be returned before April 30 @ 4.30 p.m The form can be faxed to 2381524
Please note that all Government and Private Sector employees are to obtain permission from their superiors to participate in this programme

An In-land SSEAYP perhaps?
I hear any BPY07 who wants to apply stands a good chance- in fact, any previous SSEAYP Participant stands a good chance in obtaining a place in this prestigious programme- Further information can be obtained by contacting the relevant BPYs in the Youth Department (Jabatan Belia) at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
